Diva? Discotheque? Pubs? These terms were very much alien to the people of Kolkata till the 1950s. What changed the whole city was “Mocambo”. Kolkata, infact India’s arguably first nightclub cum bar established at Park Street in 1956. This particular club was the big bang which created this random huge upscale of Nightlife Culture. A wide range of club’s opened including Blue Fox, The Park, Moulin Rouge, Trincas dotting the vibrant beginning of Park Street.

Today I will talk about 5 places you must visit in Park Street to enjoy Nightlife at its best!

1. Tantra, The Park Kolkata

Well, you will definitely hear this hotel’s name for a couple of times in the list if you really want a booming and fun loving crowd cheering their way into the stage!

This stands amongst the oldest Nightclubs in Kolkata, established at 1999, Tantra became a chartbuster within months. Consisting of two levels, Tantra has a wide dance floor for party freaks to groove on. Two beautiful bars whose variety attracts the eye like a magnet and enough space to fit over a hundred people. International events, fashions shows, celebrities all contribute to this self made brand’s success. But this doesn’t end, as you will get to see flairs and tricks from bartenders and some dirty dancing by professional dancers in Bollywood, Hip Hop and Edms. Also to note, the place is only for couple entry and ladies. Stag Entry is not allowed.

2. The Myx

If you have ever thought about partying on the rooftop of a building with your friends at least once in you life then Myx is a perfect example to make your wishes come true.

The Myx is a real mix of food, drinks, music and party. It is a rocking penthouse nightclub consisting of a huge bar, dance floor, a mezzanine level lounge bar and a separate smoking area. The sound system is top notch and the music played is of diverse choice depending upon the mood of the night. The strict admission policy of Myx ensures a healthy, safe and friendly environment for the party lovers to enjoy wholeheartedly. The Lords and Barons is a comparatively a newly opened place in Park Street. With a Royal Diner cum Pub theme, this place has its own magical rustic amd vintage to make you travel back to the 80s.

Comprising of a wide seating arrangement along with two floors, the entrance is a night club with a English styled bar. The second floor is a well furnished Royal diner. With a small yet compact menu,the food and the service is top notch. The places truly deserves its name much more than anything else.

4. Someplace Else, The Park Kolkata

If you are a person who is interested in sipping drinks and enjoying live band music, this feat is made for you. Someplace Else is an alluring English styled pub with a majestic ambience which will remind you of scenes from The Garrison Bar, of the the show Peaky Blinders. Boasting over 100s of whiskey and cocktails varieties made by the top bartenders in the town. Also serving snacks and free drinks for women on Thursday nights!

Started at 1994, this place is claimed to the Mecca of Live Music in the city, covering gigs of bands such as Indian Ocean, Parikrama, Chandrabindu. Also being a hub for small screen celebrities to chill. So, the next time you visit this place you definitely will experience a starry night like the Shelby’s!

5. Aqua, The Park Kolkata

What’s more glamorous than a Poolside Alfresco bar along with a popping music and dj! Aqua is a place very much close to my heart. With a blue calm and serene environment this is a lively place to chill and hangout with your friends.

Along with beautiful open cabanas facing the pool side, this outlet also has two floors serving drinks, hookah and snacks. In my opinion, this a perfect pitch for friends to have a subtle yet fun evening.

As a former intern of the Park Kolkata I have seen many pros and cons in the gaudy, gorgeous and vibrant the city’s nightlife. So I would always prefer to be safe especially to women who are are alone at night and aware men to be very much courteous, not to take advantage and act like a responsible person.
